Lindy Perez is in her 33rd  year of teaching in RISD, and her 20th year as the director of Choral Activities at Richardson High School where her choirs consistently earn Sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest each spring.  She directs the Varsity Acappella Choir, Varsity Men’s and Women’s Choirs, the JV Girl’s Choir, and Legacy.  Mrs. Perez was honored to receive the UIL Sponsor of Excellence Award in 2014.  In addition to competitions, the RHS Choirs have performed with Vox Humana, the TAMUC Choirs, the Disney Sings Workshops, and for community events throughout the metroplex.  Mrs. Perez has been selected 4 times as the Most Influential Teacher by top ten graduates at RHS.  She received the PTA Honorary Life Membership award in 2010.   Mrs. Perez also teaches the vocal music for the RHS annual musical.  Under her leadership, “Anything Goes” won best musical direction at the Dallas Summer Musicals High School Awards Program in 2012!

Mrs. Perez is also the director of the Richardson All District Elementary Choir (ADEC), a 100 voice auditioned chorus representing 40 elementary schools district wide.  By invitation, ADEC performed for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in 2003 and 2015.

Prior to teaching at Richardson HS, Mrs. Perez was the Choral Director at Westwood Junior High for 13 years.  Under her leadership, the Westwood Chorale performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., and was honored to sing for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in 1991.

A graduate of Lake Highlands HS in the Richardson ISD, Mrs. Perez earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Southern Methodist University in 1984.   As a member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Mrs. Perez enjoys serving as a clinician, and judge throughout the state of Texas.  Her son, Aaron, is a senior at Texas Tech University majoring in Music Education, and a member of the Goin’ Band drumline, ZIT!  She resides in Richardson, with her husband, Ruben, and dog, Cinnamon.
